Role: Product Designer
Team: Collaborated with developers, marketers, and business strategists
Tools: Figma, Framer, Webflow, Miro, Notion, Google Analytics
Timeline: September 2023 – March 2024
Impact: Enhanced creator-audience interaction, leading to a 30% increase in user engagement within the first six months
The challenge
Traditional monetisation models often fail to provide content creators with meaningful ways to engage their audiences while generating revenue. Many platforms rely on generic donation features, which lack personalisation and fail to incentivise deeper audience participation. The challenge was to design a platform that enables creators to offer structured, task-based interactions that encourage audience involvement while ensuring a seamless user experience.
Research & insights
Conducted interviews with content creators to understand their pain points with existing monetisation tools.
Used Miro to map out user journeys and identify friction points in existing monetisation methods.
Discovered that audiences were more likely to contribute when they felt their engagement had a direct impact.
Competitive analysis (conducted using Notion for documentation) showed that most platforms focused on passive contributions rather than active engagement.
Leveraged Google Analytics to track early user behaviour and identify key engagement drivers.
Design process
Ideation & Sketching: Explored ways to make monetisation more interactive and rewarding for both creators and audiences. Used Figma for early wireframes and Miro for brainstorming and collaboration.
Wireframes & Prototyping: Developed user flows that allowed creators to define tasks, set goals, and engage audiences through dynamic interactions. Prototypes were built in Framer for rapid testing.
User Testing & Iteration:
Conducted usability tests with a selected group of creators and supporters.
Used Notion to collect feedback and track insights.
Iterated on the design, refining the UI and UX based on feedback, with a focus on clarity, task prioritisation, and visual hierarchy.
The solution
The final platform enables creators to set up task lists that audiences can support financially, fostering deeper engagement. The design ensures a personalised and transparent monetisation experience by:
Allowing creators to tailor tasks to their audience’s interests.
Providing real-time tracking of audience participation and funding.
Integrating social sharing features to amplify engagement and growth.
Using Webflow to develop the front-end, ensuring a polished and responsive UI.
The outcome
Increased creator-audience interaction by 30% within the first six months.
Enhanced transparency and engagement, leading to higher audience retention.
Positive feedback from creators who found the structured approach more effective than traditional donation models.
Learnings & Reflections
This project reinforced the importance of user-centred design in the monetisation space. By prioritising interactive engagement over passive donations, we created a system that benefits both creators and their audiences. Future iterations may include additional customisation options and gamification elements to further enhance participation.
